Profile

Surface Chemistry and Catalytic Studies (SCCS) group, is collaborative community to study Physical Chemistry, Surfaces, Petrochemical Catalysis, Green Catalysis and Advanced Materials at King Abdulaziz University (KAU) in Jeddah, the members of the group are Faculty and Staff members of Chemistry Department, sharing their knowledge and conducting research in areas mentioned earlier.

Scope of the Group

The scope of the group is to study Physical Chemistry, Surfaces, Petrochemical Catalysis, Green Catalysis and Advanced Materials for academic and industrial research & development.

The academic teaching for undergraduate and postgraduate Maters and PhD students is mandatory for the group, many students joined the SCCS group for training and long term studying, they successfully completed their BSc, MSc and PhD degrees, both male and female, while there are some students still studying with SCCS group professors, and the group accepting more students in the fields of the group interests.

The SCCS group members believe that sharing the knowledge and training with other academic institutions, government and private industrial sectors would benefit all in Saudi Aribia and also outside the Kingdom, and adding income for the group to maintain the lab equipment, purchasing chemicals etc.

Successful projects

Within the SCCS group scope, we successfully trained students in undergraduate and postgraduate programs, as well as many internal and external research projects have been successfully completed.

• SABIC, is industrial company producing chemicals and petrochemical products, SABIC has sponsored several projects with SCCS group, and become one of the important partners to the group.

   

• KACST, King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology is a scientific government institution that supports and enhances scientific applied research. SCCS group has conducting large number of research projects with KACST, and successfully finished, KACST is one most important partner for the group within governmental semi-private sector.

   

• International collaboration, SCCS group has successful collaboration with several international institutions such as Imperial College London, UCL College London, UK, University of Minnesota, USA, The Utrecht University, Netherlands and University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany.
